Our Employment Support Team have been working with our clients to get them ready for work and our Business Support Team have been working with Anglesey Sea Zoo to find the right people for the job!
Connor Davies, 24, Café Assistant
“I wouldn’t have this job if my mentor hadn’t told me about it.”
Earlier this year, Connor Davies, from Mynydd Llandygai went to Bangor Job Centre to sign on to Universal Credit. He was signposted to Môn CF by his work coach to apply for a Kickstart position. Connor was supported by his mentor, Katie, to apply for roles and has completed his COSHH and First Aid Training. Connor has worked at Anglesey Sea Zoo since July and said, “I wouldn’t have this job if my mentor hadn’t told me about it.” As Connor was out of work for a while, he thinks a café job is a good place to start “it’s great, friendly staff, easy to work with.” He liked visiting the sea zoo as a child and would eventually like to go into conservation work.
Daniel Rees, 20, Play and Maintenance Assistant
“It’s the best job I’ve had!”
Originally from Coventry, Daniel now lives in Waun Fawr and has been working at Anglesey Sea Zoo since June. Daniel’s role involves maintaining the outside areas including the bouncy castle, golf course and playground; ensuring everything is clean and safe for everyone to use.
Daniel studied Animal Welfare at Glynllifon for two years and had previously worked at a holiday park cleaning caravans. Daniel was struggling to find work, but he is now working 25 hours a week and is enjoying the opportunity to meet new people.
Felicity Jerams, 22, Aquarist Assistant
Felicity moved from Warrington to study Marine Biology and Zoology at Bangor University. She had previously worked at Chester Zoo for a year as an Aquarist, she is now working full-time at Anglesey Sea Zoo as an Aquarist Assistant. Felicity enjoys the people facing aspect of her role and the conservation side of things. She is involved in delivering talks throughout the day and is passionate about educating the visitors and public to be more sustainable.
