About us
Mon CF is a charity and company owned by the people of Anglesey.
Originally established to support the most deprived areas of the island, we have grown into an organisation that supports the people of Anglesey looking to upskill and find work.
We deliver dedicated services and projects across the island that improve local employability, help start small businesses, and provide vocational training to individuals and workforces on Anglesey.
Today Môn CF stands as the go-to organisation for employment support, business support, and vocational training.
We help thousands of people every year to reach their potential and create brighter futures.

How did we get here?
2003
The Communities First Years

Launched in 2003, Communities First was a Welsh Government initiative designed to combat poverty through a "bottom-up" grassroots approach. By empowering local residents to lead decision-making, the program aimed to improve quality of life across Wales, including seven wards in Anglesey and Holyhead.
2005
Becoming Plas Cybi

In 2005, a Welsh Government restructure merged two Holyhead wards into a single entity: Plas Cybi. Despite the organisational shift, the core mission remained unchanged - lifting residents out of poverty by removing systemic barriers.
2009
Best Social Enterprise

KIDZINK stands as one of Môn CF’s most successful historical projects, specifically designed to dismantle the persistent barrier of childcare on the island. By providing affordable, high-quality care, the initiative empowered residents to return to employment or pursue further education. In 2009, KIDZINK’s innovative model earned it the title of ‘Best Social Enterprise’ at the Morgan Foundation Awards.
2011
Empty Shops Initiative

The Holyhead Empty Shops Initiative, was a strategic response to the decline of the town centre following the exodus of major retailers to out-of-town parks. The initiative purchased and refurbished derelict premises, transforming them into modern, functional business hubs.
2017
Adaption and Independance

Following the conclusion of Communities First in 2017, Môn CF successfully transitioned into a specialised independent organisation. Today, it serves as Anglesey’s premier hub for employment support, business advice, and vocational training.
2022
Record-breaking Employment support

We helped over 500 people find new jobs, changing their lives for the better, and improving their economic outlook. We’ve proven we can be agile and rapidly respond to employment emergencies when they arise. Supporting people facing redundancies, and those affected by the closure of major employers on the island.
2023
Vacant Property Programme

We secured £5 million of grant funding for Holyhead, as part of the UK Government’s Vacant property programme aimed to regenerate the high street. This project will transform major Holyhead landmarks (including the former HSBC building) into community hubs and business spaces, creating up to 30 new jobs.
2026
Môn Communities Forward

Môn CF enters a new era with a more commercial, agile rebrand designed to drive sustainable economic growth. While the look is new, the mission remains the same: staying true to our roots by delivering high-impact employment support, vocational training, business advice, and vital community projects across Anglesey.
