Dion Williams, age 24, from Felinheli and Jac Jones, age 22, from Llangefni are both excelling in their Kickstart Scheme placements as Trainee Butcher / Factory Assistants at Llechwedd Meats.
Llechwedd Meats, based in Parc Bryn Cefni, Llangefni are an Award-Winning North Wales butchers employing 53 staff. The largest supply contract they fulfil is the supply of Anglesey and Gwynedd school canteens, both primary and secondary.
Dion and Jac are both over halfway through their 6-month Kickstart placement and are loving it. They are both heavily involved in the general food production and packaging elements of the factory process.
Dion has changed industry and gone from ground’s work to “Burger Master”. In 2018, Dion was working in St David’s Park, Red Wharf Bay as a ground’s worker, following some time out of work, Dion decided he would like to apply himself and find work again. Dion said:
“This year, I decided to try a bit harder, so I came to Môn CF in Bangor. Since working here my confidence has grown, I’m happy to be back in work, I was quite shy.”
Jac was working at The Book People for 9 months, until they closed in April 2020. Jac was unable to find work for some time until he was signposted by the Job Centre towards this placement and is loving it.
Myfanwy, Health and Safety Auditor at Llechwedd Meats has expressed that both Jac and Dion are performing well within their roles, and she is pleased with their progress:
“They’re doing really well, can’t knock them.”
