Success at 65 - Supporting OJ into Work!

OJ secured two part-time roles that allowed him to continue to support his family At 65 years old, OJ, a single man with family in the UK and Germany, recently embarked on the Restart Programme with Môn CF. Through regular appointments, Môn CF was able to support OJ in his search for work. OJ came to Môn CF needing support with common elements of the job search experience. After updating his CV to reflect his experience, OJ embarked on a journey to find work in the cleaning sector. OJ's Experience with Môn CF During his time with Môn CF, OJ explored a Better-Off Calculator report. The Better-Off Calculator helps individuals visualise how much their circumstances will change from moving into work. It wasn't long before OJ discovered how even part-time work could significantly improve his financial situation, while also providing a great boost to his confidence. Eager to return to work, OJ brought with him a wealth of experience in hospitality, manufacturing, and retail. Despite concerns about his age being a disadvantage, OJ sought a job that would allow him to continue to support his son with childcare and spend as much time as possible with his young grandchildren. Ideally, OJ wanted early morning, evening, or nighttime shifts. OJ's Outcome Open to various roles, OJ decided to focus on cleaning, despite having limited experience in the field. He had spent some time working as a Hygiene Operative in 2007 and felt comfortable with the industry. Through determination, OJ attended several interviews and successfully secured a part-time cleaning role for 4 hours per week. This initial role gave him the confidence and determination to continue seeking additional hours within the cleaning sector. With support from Môn CF, OJ continued to work on his CV and was soon applying for other cleaning positions with different companies. He was successful and very quickly found a new role which provided an additional 10 hours a week! OJ was thrilled to share that he had successfully secured his second role! These two positions have significantly boosted OJ's confidence, proving that age is no barrier! OJ continued to look for additional employment opportunities and has expressed his appreciation for the support he received from the Môn CF team. Do you need support to find work? If you live on Anglesey and need support finding work, Môn CF is here to help!
