Success Story - Libby DeMarco

Why did you come to Môn CF?

I was told about Môn CF by my Work Coach at the Job Centre. She told me that I could get help with my CV, support to find employment, and the opportunity to do some training while I was looking for work. Having worked in administration in the past I was looking to follow this route, but my main priorities were job security and something that fitted around my children.

Did you do any training?

Yes, my Môn CF Mentor enrolled me onto several courses, including Manual Handling, Health & Safety, First Aid and Mental Health First Aid. All of them were really useful – not only did they add to my CV, they built up my confidence and made me feel that I was ready to return to the workplace.

Did you do any volunteering or work experience?

Yes. Even though I already had experience in administration, I was keen to brush up on my skills, so my Mentor set up a three-week work placement within Môn CF helping out on the main reception desk and in the finance office. This was a great experience and really set me up for the job I’m doing now.

What are you doing now?

I’m now working for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board in the North Wales Clinical School. My job title is Undergraduate Co-Ordinator and I organise the clinical placements of the medical students. This all came about because I signed up for the Step into Work programme and was fast-tracked through an NHS Orientation, an online training package and a voluntary placement in the department where I now work. I can’t recommend the programme enough for anyone who wants to work within the NHS!

What do you think is the best thing about Môn CF?

I wouldn’t be where I am today without Môn CF’s help and their ‘do it now’ approach. Generally, being out of work is a stressful and worrying time, but having Môn CF on my side was like having my own little support team there ready and willing to help. I’d like to take this opportunity to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much.
