Stuart Eccles, 20 from Bethesda, self-employed in Tree Services

“I am so glad of the support that I have received from Môn CF as I wouldn’t be where I am today. Highly recommended service.” – Stuart Eccles, 20, Bethesda Stuart was originally referred to Môn CF by his JCP work coach. He was seeking support with creating a CV, job searching and training opportunities. Stuart was interested in finding work outdoors such as tree felling or fencing. Stuart expressed an interest in undergoing a Chainsaw Course or Safe Use of Power Tools but was unsure of where to obtain these courses. Before the Covid -19 pandemic, Stuart was successful in passing his driving theory test, however his practical driving test was delayed. Due to Stuart living in a rural area and as he was still unable to drive, he needed to find work more locally on his bus route. Stuart was supported to create an updated, digital version of his CV and was encouraged to apply for jobs online. Stuart was offered an opportunity to work alongside a local Tree Service company on a self-employed basis; once he obtained a Chainsaw Maintenance course - his mentor sourced a LANTRA certified training provider and booked him onto the next available and upcoming date. Additionally, a Health and Safety in the Workplace Level 2, High Speed Training course was funded for and completed by Stuart whilst awaiting his course. Stuart successfully completing a two-day Lantra Chainsaw Maintenance course held in Colwyn Bay and has now registered as self-employed. Stuart works alongside a local contractor who helps him with transport to various locations and is working on building his reputation locally before he aims to pass his driving test to enable him to take on work further afield.
