Dafydd is one of three clients to be placed on a Kickstart Scheme placement as Yard Assistant with C L Jones this year, the other Yard Assistants are placed in Caernarfon and Llangefni, all of which started in June.
We recently went to visit Dafydd in the warehouse, he is enjoying his role and said:
“It’s a great way to learn about different trades, if you’re not sure what you want to go into. You learn a lot about all the different materials, equipment and trades. I love this type of work!”
Dafydd had previously worked at Surf Snowdonia, but unfortunately, due to the pandemic, he was let go and found himself out of work. Dafydd went to the JCP in Llandudno and was signposted to our Môn CF Bangor office by his work coach.
Dafydd is now three months into his placement and due to his excellent performance, he has now had his hours increased to full time. Dafydd hopes that once his placement ends, he will be kept on at C L Jones as a permanent member of the team.
Ian Whalley, Dafydd’s Manager, said “We’re very pleased with how he’s getting on, “mae’n siarad Cymraeg”, knows all the locals, and he’s keen to learn.” Assistant Manager, Dewi added that “Iwan is very personable, good with customers and keen to help.”
In addition to the permanent contract, Ian is happy for Dafydd to undergo training for his Forklift licence once it can be scheduled with their training providers. Well done, Dafydd!
