Holyhead’s ‘Local Conversation’ is a project where individuals and groups are empowered to make a difference within their own community.

Holyhead’s Local Conversation is funded by People’s Health Trust through money raised by the Health Lottery and is delivered by Môn CF. We are always on the lookout for support, and we welcome residents of Holyhead to actively participate in one or more of our three priority areas:

  • Youth

  • Events

  • Places and Spaces

Additionally, there are opportunities for residents to become members of our Community Chest Grants Panel and/or our Local Conversation Steering Group.

Local Conversation Steering Group

The Local Conversation Steering Group is made up of residents who come together to steer the project and its subprojects, including the Youth Pod, the Cybi Events Group and the Community Chest Grants Panel. Representatives from each of the subprojects meet once a month to share updates and give feedback, thus developing and maintaining strong links between the groups. Their main focus is always what matters to their community, and the ideas and suggestions made in these meetings often become the basis of collective action.

Community Chest Grants Panel

The Community Chest Grants Panel is a group of residents who give their time to support local voluntary groups to access funding. The panel advertises community grants, accepts and reviews applications, conducts site visits, and ultimately awards successful applicants with their cheques. The panel says that the best part of this whole process is receiving feedback on how obtaining a Community Chest grant helped a local group or club to improve the quality of life in Holyhead.

Are you a community group or organisation in Holyhead?
